Commercial successes in information technology have a tendency to overwhelm interest in the science of computation, tricking consumers and technologists alike into the false belief that computation is understood, and udermining any motivation to learn and explore. The future is held hostage by this false sense of maturity. Will we paues long enough to put our blinders on, ignore the siren of fast money, and start anew in our quest to tease out the full theoretical scope of this infant domain?
